Is your old countertop showing the signs of all that use and abuse? Stains can easily ruin the most well finished kitchen counter surface, and scratches and nicks are common. Part of a successful kitchen remodel is getting rid of your old and stained counter tops and getting newer ones installed. Your older countertops will look odd if you're planning on changing cabinets and getting new paint. New kitchen countertops will add the finishing touch to your Los Angeles, CA area kitchen and add the gleam that's the mark of a good looking kitchen.
The first choice of home owners when it comes to kitchen countertops is granite. Its more affordable than ever, is sturdy and resistant to satins and spills and can resist scratches and nicks with ease. The variety of colors may disappoint however. If you're'; looking for unusual colors consider quartz or engineered stone instead. Ceramic tiles are affordable if you want to stay within budget but cleaning between the tiles and the presence of grout can be a nightmare. Marble is one of the finest materials money can buy, but might prove pricy and beyond your budget. An island counter top made of marble is a better alternative. Wood provides a high quality rich finish but can't resist nicks and scratches very well. It's also priced on the higher end, depending on the kind of wood you choose. Laminated kitchen countertops are affordable and can be cleaned easily.
Remember to take your lifestyle into consideration before you make a decision. Wood and marble are high quality but also high maintenance materials that can take a lot of time and effort to maintain. These are not the right choice if you have large family and cook often. With such a wide range of materials and colors available you're sure to find the kitchen countertop that's right for your home.
Hi - wondering about a kitchen remodel - very preliminary. House was built in late 70's, about 2500 sq ft - standard kitchen with eating area. would like to have new floor, new cabinets, new counters, new stove. Perhaps minor structural modification - push out one interior wall. Could you give me some idea of a ballpark cost - none of this would be high-end style/materials, but decent quality. thank you

The kitchen is in an apartment. it @ 8 ft by 8 ft. The stove is to be replaced and needs a microwave, hood exaust lighted installed. The frig and dishwasher are new. White. we'll keep them. Needs new cabinets, counter under cabinet lighting, some outlets upgraded...from the 50's. maybe tile above counter and new flooring. new ceiling lighting. Thanks
