Your kitchen cabinets are the focal point of your kitchen. If you have a theme running through your home, your kitchen will have to reflect that theme and must include cabinets to match that theme. Otherwise you end up with a kitchen that sticks out like a sore thumb. Decide on the style and material for your kitchen cabinets and take that as the springboard to decide on other elements in your kitchen.
When it comes to kitchen cabinets you can choose between custom kitchen cabinets, stock cabinets or semi custom cabinets. Stock cabinets are exactly that -- you chose from a limited range of styles and material that are available in stock and you pick a design that you like. Obviously a stock kitchen cabinet will not make allowances for your special needs. A custom kitchen cabinet on the other hand will be designed taking your needs into consideration. You can make as many drawers, cabinets and other storage spaces that you need and incorporate other space saving or storage elements that you desire. A semi custom cabinet won't need as long as custom cabinets to execute, but do have other details that you want included.
Cherry kitchen cabinets are unrivalled when it comes to giving your cabinets that look of class that sets them apart. They have warm tones, and deep hues and give your kitchen a glow that stunning to behold. They are more expensive however, and your custom kitchen cabinets can easily take a big chunk out of your kitchen remodeling budget. If your budget doesn't allow you to choose cherry kitchen cabinets, consider cheap kitchen cabinets that are made of cheaper materials like laminates. They are easy to maintain although they don't have the elegance of cherry wood.

I have a very old and relatively small kitchen. I would like to update all appliances, floor, and backsplash, replace countertops, and paint. I am looking for a more functional kitchen with more modern updates. I know I would rather just refinish/resurface my cabinets if possible. I am also interested in seeing a couple of designs to knock out a wall to open up the space if possible. I am also open to seeing my kitchen reconfigured to help the flow and functionality of things.
